The 3rd IstanbulDesignBiennial“ARE WE HUMAN? : TheDesignof the Species : 2 seconds, 2 days, 2 years, 200 years, 200,000 years”organised by theIstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV)andcurated byBeatriz Colomina and Mark Wigleyopens to the public on Saturday, 22 October. It can be visited till Sunday, 20 November 2016.
Organised byİKSVand co-sponsored byENKA Foundation,Petkim and VitrA,the3rd IstanbulDesignBiennialwill explore the intimate relationship between “design” and “human”over a time period that spans from the last 2 seconds to the last 200,000 years.
The Biennial will presentmore than 70 projectsby over250 participants, includingdesigners, architects, artists, theorists, choreographers, filmmakers, historians and archaeologistsfrommore than 50 countries. To be held free of charge, the biennial is hosted in5 main venues;Galata Greek PrimarySchool,Studio-X IstanbulandDepoin Karaköy,Alt Art Spacein bomontiada, andIstanbul Archaeological Museumsin Sultanahmet.
The Press Opening and Preview of the3rd IstanbulDesignBiennialwas held onThursday,20 OctoberatGalata Greek Primary Schoolwith the participation of the 3rd IstanbulDesignBiennial curatorsBeatriz ColominaandMark Wigley,İKSV ChairmanBülent Eczacıbaşı, along with IstanbulDesignBiennial DirectorDeniz Ova. Representatives from the biennial’s co-sponsors;ENKA Foundation,Petkim and VitrAandwere present at the Press Opening. Following the Press Opening, curatorsBeatriz ColominaandMark Wigleyaccompanied guests during an exclusive tour of Galata Greek Primary School.
